  • DEWESoft 7 and Operating Systems
  • What kind of OS and computer hardware do I need for Dewesoft 7?
  • DEWESoft supports Microsoft Windows XP, Widnows Vista and Windows 7 32 bit. For better performance we recommend switching off user account controls on Windows Vista and Windows 7.

    DEWESoft can also be run on Windows 7 64-bit, but many hardware drivers are not signed and therefore hardware support is limited on this Windows version.

    All Windows operating systems are required to have DirectX 9.0c installed.

    DEWESoft will not run on Windows 2000, NT, 98, 95, 3.11, Linux, Mac OS or any UNIX system.
  • Will DEWESoft 7 run on Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows Server ?
  • DEWESoft will run on all Windows versions. The hardware support depends on the Windows system drivers for that specific device and OS version. If the hardware device supports drivers for the trageted OS, then DEWESoft will be able to run that hardware.
  • Does DEWESoft 7 run with 32 and/or 64 bit Windows version?
  • Yes. DEWESoft will run on both - 32 bit and 64 bit Windows. Hardware support itself depends on the device driver support for 32/64 bit Windows. Be sure to check if hardware you will use supports drivers on the targeted OS.
  • DEWESoft 7 and Hardware
  • Does DEWESoft 7 support my hardware?
  • DEWESoft 7 supports many different hardware devices, from many different manufacturers. Take a look at DEWESoft 7 hardware device support for a complete list of supported devices.
  • Will my web-camera work as video input device in DEWESoft 7?
  • Yes. DEWESoft 7 supports all standard Direct X compatible cameras.
  • Which DEWESoft version do I need for my hardware?
  • Take a look at DEWESoft 7 features matrix to see which DEWESoft 7 is needed for your acquisition system.
  • DEWESoft 7 registration
  • How do I register DEWESoft 7?
  • Online registration: if your measurement PC is connected to the internet you can register directly from DEWESoft. Run DEWESoft 7 and navigate to "Registration" tab in "Hardware setup" window. Enter your license key and press "Register online" button. DEWESoft will connect to the internet and will register automatically.

    Offline registration: if your measurement PC does not have internet connection, you can register offline. Please follow this link for complete how-to instruction for offline registration.
  • Where can I get 30 day evaluation key for DEWESoft 7?
  • You can get 30 day evaluation license key here.
  • Will DEWESoft license allow me to run newly connected hardware?
  • No. DEWESoft will only allow you to use hardware that is supported by your registered license. If you want to connect additional hardware you will need new DEWESoft license.
  • DEWESoft 7 features
  • What is main difference between DEWESoft 6.x and DEWESoft 7?
  • The main difference is the the introduction of post-processing and offline math functions in DEWESoft 7. Before you were only able to run online math and processing. Now you can use all these functions even after the data was already acquired and stored to file.
    Other major improvements include new user interface, open file structure, sequencing and more. Find out more.
  • DEWESoft 7 functionalities
  • How can I view DEWESoft 7 data files?
  • Download our free DEWESoft 7 Viewer application that allows you to view DEWESoft 7 data files.
  • Can I add voice comments while measuring?
  • YES. You need to enable the voice events in the Settings -> Global settings menu like this (click to see the image).

    Once your settings are OK, you can press and hold a "v" key while measuring or use the voice event icon to record your voice event.
  • How do I import files from DEWESoft 6.x (*.dsd)?
  • Please download DEWESoft 6.6.7 from our website, from where you can export to DEWESoft 7 data format (*.d7d).
  • Can I analyze data after the acquisition and data was already stored to the hard drive?
  • Yes. DEWESoft 7 introduced a powerful post-processing and offline math functions. Find out more.
  • Can I add additional visual elements (such as text, voice, instruments) after the acquisition had already been finished?
  • YES. You can easily add or modify existing visual instruments even after you already stored your acquisition.

    Open data file, switch to design mode (upper tool bar) and add the desired visual element(s). When complete you can press "Save" to keep the changes in stored file...
  • Matlab export fails when exporting large files. Is there any way to make it work?
  • The Matlab export libraries coming with DEWESoft 7 does not support exported file sizes above 2 GB. In order to export large files, you need to have Matlab (one of recent versions) installed on the computer where you make export and then DELETE three libraries from DEWESoft folder (libmat.dll, libut.dll, libmx.dll).
  • DEWESoft 7 - Developers
  • Is there a .dll component that would allow me to load a .d7d file directly into my own application?
  • Yes, there is. Register for a Dewesoft account and visit Developer's download section and download DWDataReader library. This library has all the functions to load DEWESoft files.

Drivers & Firmware

You can find latest HW and Firmware drivers in download section. For upgrading Firmware on your instrument please follow the instructions in instrument's user manual - section "Firmware upgrade". You can find all user manuals in download section - HW manuals.

Firmware upgrade instructions

  1. DEWE-43: connect DEWE43 with the USB cable to the computer. It is assumed that the drivers are already installed.

    Important: Make sure that the external power supply is NOT connected during the firmware upgrade.

    DS MINITAUR: turn on the instrument.

  2. Check if existing firmware version on your instrument is lower then latest released firmware version (3.0.5.16). You can check your current firmware version in DEWESoft Hardware Setup screen. If the version of your current firmware is the same, you don't need to upgrade.



  3. Download firmware upgrade utility and firmware file above. Unzip both files to a folder on your hard drive.

  4. Run firmware upgrade utility and select the "DEWESoft USB" from device drop down list and browse to the BT_3.0.5.16.fwu firmware file:



  5. Press "Upload" button and wait until progress bar reaches 100%. Do not interrupt this operation.

  6. When upload is finished, press OK. New firmware is now uploaded on the device. If this fails for any reason, repeat the upload process again.

  7. Disconnect the USB, reconnect power and reconnect USB again.
